Bond Auto Parts has teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We do many things to help out the organization, such as drop boxes in our stores, selling of wish clouds, Team Member contributions, Walk-For-Wishes, and much more.
The Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes is a two-day walk to be held on September 23-24, 2006. This event will raise awareness and funds for our wish children.
This two-day event is the first of its kind in Vermont. Our hope is to provide a challenging and rewarding opportunity for all fitness levels to participate. It is an event to raise funds for wishes for the growing number of children in Vermont who are living with a life-threatening illness.
The route will be approximately 10 miles each day with a starting point in Burlington to Camp Holy Cross in Colchester and back the next day.
The minimum pledge per walker, to participate in this walk, is $1000. This event raised $65,000, last year; only the second year of the event. We are hoping for 75 walkers in 2006 with a net of $100,000.
Bond Auto Parts has challenged each one of our stores to send a registered walker to this event. If you'd like to help your local Bond Auto Parts store raise their $1000, stop in and make a pledge.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont was established as a chapter in 1989. To date, they are proud to say they have over 316 wishes granted to children in Vermont. They are one of 74 chapters nationally and 22 internationally. The Vermont chapter is a 501c3 organization. They grant wishes to children between the ages of 2 ½ and 18.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
People everywhere will share the power of a wish.
In Vermont, Make-A-Wish expects to grant between 50-60 wishes this fiscal year. They granted 40 wishes in fiscal year 2004. Most wishes are trips to Disney, although each child determines what their wish will be. The wishes are as unique as each child.
Currently, average wish cost is approximately $9000, although, wishes are not limited unless the cost of the wish will have a detrimental effect on the financial security of the chapter.
